Isaac Asimov's "The Last Question" follows humanity's quest to reverse entropy across eons. From 2061 when humans first harness solar energy, through galactic civilizations to the universe's heat death, successive generations ask advanced computers if entropy can be decreased. Each time, the answer is "INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANSWER" until the final cosmic computer, AC, having absorbed all consciousness, finally discovers the solution and recreates the universe with "Let there be light."
