Five major European mobile payment companies have formed a historic alliance to create an independent payment infrastructure, challenging the dominance of Visa and Mastercard. Starting in 2026, the partnership between Bizum, Bancomat, MB WAY, Vipps MobilePay, and France's Wero will connect 130 million users across 13 countries, allowing cross-border transactions without relying on American systems. The initiative aims to establish European sovereignty in digital payments through complete interoperability.
